Reservation?, forget that...Hear Pentagram's Voice

I love this song...Pentagram's latest offering coupled with Channel V's "Shot By You" initiative, that lets people send in their video clips, to compile the video for this song, is an absolute treat.

The link for the mp3 hosted by Channel V is here
Rush to get it, I don't know how long it'll remain hosted there.

The lyrics can be found here

A YouTube video with the anti-reservation theme for this song can be seen here

Are you anti-reservation? Are you pro-reservation? or Are you unimpressed by the hoo-haa, and would rather let those insane monkeys in parliament beat themselves up over vote-bank politics, while the SC tries lamely to discipline them.

I don't know how reservation in educational institutions and private sector companies will benefit anybody. Whatever happened to the merit-based selection process? Hasn't this process ensured that the cream of the crop gets into the IIM's and IIT's? Hasn't this selection process proved itself successful over the years? Why fix something if it aint' broke? Is Arjun Singh the most persevering politico around? he's been in quota mess for as long as anyone can remember!

Word on the street is that the govt will squash all attempts at resistance....both from demonstrators, and the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

Somebody told me that reservation (she called it affirmative action), will work only to divide society. I told her not to worry...our society is already so fragmented, one more won't even be noticeable.

What do you think? tell me...

this stuff makes me so angry, i don't even want to start.

this is like the BMC banning plastic bags in bombay because they're too lazy to fix the drainage system and implement a proper garbage disposal system. (i mean, i'm all for reducing plastic consumption, but this is not the reason!)

Yeah, I agree...but it seems that neither the supreme court nor the parliament is the guardian of popular sentiment. In fact the SC's main task is to ignore all populist thought while resolving issues related to the running of the state...a fact well exploited by every governing body. So are we really a democracy? how are those elected representatives reflecting our ideals and intentions? Yeh kya ho raha hai yaar! At least our supreme court chief justice is not a politically appointed office...if it was, we'd not be debating this issue at all...

I wanted to leave a fiery comment, but I get soooooo pissed off with these stupid regressive moves that I lose my ability to rant. So instead I leave you a frustrated scream - AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

How come I never hear any pro-reservation voices? mebbe because by definition reservation policies always hurt the system of merit. how come nobody tells me that the scheduled castes and other bc's have been oppressed for thousands of years, while reservation is only in place since the constitution was written..? i dunno...everybody is angry...facts are being obfuscated, people are using this confusion and controversy for other, undignified means... koi kuch to karo...

The uproar shows how tolerant we are...amazing how we can fool the world on our tolerence, we cannot tolerate our own nationals, imagine tolerating the 'multinationals'. The corporate multinationals survive because of their heavy strongboxes.

@Khalid bhai- agreed, in effect us being secular republic, committed to unity in diversity seems to be an elaborate sham...but it is in writing (the constitution!), maybe one of these days it will be reflected in reality too...lets wait and watch...whats it been..59-60 years since independence? bah..hardly enough time to figure things out! especially something as verbose and complex as our constitution...we need more time!
